Dell Inspiron 15 7559

The Dell Inspiron 15 7559, also known as i7559, is an affordable gaming laptop targeted at the technology market. It is capable of running all the latest game blockbusters and delivers ultimate gaming experiences and unrivaled convenience. The 15.6 inch display provides wide viewing angles thanks to IPS technology. The default display option is FHD (1920 × 1080 pixels), while an Ultra-HD 4K touchscreen (3840 × 2160 pixels) is optionally available. The lid is glossy and the capacitive membrane keyboard in solid metallic black with red accents matches the design of the audio setup from subwoofer and two stereo speakers. The Intel Core i5-6300HQ or high-end i7-6700HQ quad core processor of the 6th generation make for fast and smooth gaming. The i7559 model comes with either 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM, which adequate for modern gaming and seamless multitasking. The lightweight system weighs in at 2.59 kg (5.7 pounds) and is 2.54 cm (1 inch) high, which is usual for gaming notebooks. With three USB 3.0 ports, a PowerShare Kensington lock slot, an HDMI-out, and 4K display support, the system delivers flexible connectivity options for connecting various USB peripherals. To ensure the online gaming runs in smooth zone, Dell provides Gigabit Ethernet for more reliability and speedy wired data connection. During a mix of web browsing, writing emails, streaming music, and a bit of YouTube videos, the Inspiron achieved a battery life of about 9 hours at a brightness of 50 %.

Maintenance miracle. Unfortunately, this is pretty rare nowadays: The maintenance hatch, which is very easy to remove, allows access to all major components of the new multimedia notebook from Dell. Another highlight is the high-resolution 4K touchscreen and thanks to its GTX 960M GPU, it should also attract gamers. Unfortunately, some issues affect the initial good impression.

Mind you, it is on the expensive side but we feel that the overall package should leave you satisfied. You get a great UHD display, beefy components, and a good set of speakers for all your multimedia needs. The laptop performs very well thanks to the included SSD, which has about enough capacity for the OS and one or two games. The laptop can handle most heavy games too, provided you don't play at the native resolution.

However, the Inspiron has solid foundations aside from its glorious 4K display. The Skylake Core i7-6700HQ is a very powerful CPU, providing great results across our tests, including SiSoft Sandra and Cinebench R15. It certainly wipes the floor with my desktop Core i3-4160. One area that could be enhanced is the system memory. Presumably to keep costs down, Dell use older DDR3 RAM (PC3-12800) in the Inspiron instead of newer, faster DDR4 memory. It is not a huge problem as the system still performs very well, but DDR4 support would help provide extra security for those looking for a ‘future-proof’ laptop.

So, what do we make of the Dell Inspiron 15 7559? It is currently has the highest gaming performance/price ratio under $900-$1000, also thanks to Skylake I5. The Skylake I5 is a powerful yet less power hungry and throttling prone than the I7 and unlike previous I5 mobile CPUs, it has 4 cores, not 2, which makes it a lot more powerful for 3D and gaming too.

Though the design of the Inspiron 15 7000 is a bit basic, especially compared to flashy rivals like the HP Spectre X360, it performs well and is quite affordable at just $749. A similarly configured Spectre is $400 more, and the Samsung Notebook 9 in this config is $250 more. What’s more, it doesn’t seem like many corners were cut to reach that low price either. This laptop has a fantastic keyboard and trackpad, great audio, and ran very well in our benchmarks. Think of it as the Honda Accord of laptops. It’s not going to win any fashion contests or draw looks of envy in the boardroom or coffee shop, but it offers great performance and features at an affordable price. For many buyers, that’s a very compelling offer.

If you're looking for a powerful gaming laptop that won't break the bank, then the Inspiron 15 is a great choice. From the Nvidia graphics to the subdued color scheme, this laptop checks off a lot of boxes. Some of the "New" models (like the New Dell Inspiron 13 7000) now offer Intel's quad core 8th-gen CPU at a reasonable price point, too. Though we love the attractive price tag and professional aesthetic, there were a few minor drawbacks.

DELL’S XPS 13 LINEAGE, now in its sixth generation, has long been regarded as the pinnacle of svelte laptops. When they first appeared in the wild, people were amazed that such a finely crafted product could be made outside of the fruity confines of Infinite Loop. Over its lifespan, Dell has tweaked the design, updated the hardware, and, back in 2015, added the Infinity Edge display. This made a rather tempting piece of hardware extremely so—who can resist the non-Euclidean charms of a 13- inch display fitting inside an 11-inch case? Especially when said display is a beautiful QHD+ touch affair. Aesthetics aside, Dell’s other trick here has been its support of Linux on its hardware. Since its inception, the XPS 13 range has been available in a Developer Edition, which features identical hardware, but runs Ubuntu Linux.

The thing that excites me the most about the revamped design on the Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming is the new hinge. Gone are the small hinges on either side of the screen that felt weak, and they have been replaced with a subsantial, solid single hinge in the middle of the notebook. Bottom line, the 7567 is a pretty nice basic midrange gaming laptop, but you should consider the drawbacks and price. The Kaby Lake + GTX 1050 Ti is a powerful combination for $800, battery running times are pretty good, thermals and noise are handled well and the looks will satisfy probably many people. I’d suggest considering this laptop in case it can be bought for a price of $700-$750 (1050 Ti version), but for $850-$900 it comes pretty close to the GTX 1060 3GB laptops which might have some other advantages like better connection ports selection.

The Inspiron 7567 is a mixed bag for Dell. It’s super affordable in most regions of the world and offers powerful hardware for the asking price but unfortunately for the OEM, there are other similarly priced rivals on the market delivering features that the Inspiron 7567 doesn’t. The main drawback of the machine is the lackluster TN panel which will be a deal-breaker for a lot of users. If you are able to spend a little bit more, we suggest that you consider the ASUS ROG Strix GL553VE or the more reasonably priced Lenovo Legion Y520. The GTX 1050 Ti configuration of the Aspire VX 15 from Acer is also a good option.

If you want slick Full HD gaming in a laptop, you normally have to pay a considerable price. For example, the $2,899 15in Gigabyte Aero 15 comes with an Intel Core i7-7700HQ and a 6GB GTX 1060. Or there’s Dell’s gorgeous $2,599 XPS 15, which features an Intel Core i7-7700HQ and GTX 1050 graphics.

It’s a relatively heavy laptop, at 2.62kg, and also a little chunky, at 25mm thick. However, it’s well specified: there are full-size HDMI and RJ-45 Ethernet ports, a Noble lock, an SD card reader, three USB3 ports, a 3.5mm headphone/mic jack, and a proprietary Dell power port. The only thing missing is a USB Type-C port; a surprise for a modern laptop.

(Long-)Lasting impression. The entry-level version of the Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming Notebook lacks the higher-end hardware complement of its pricier siblings. Although still hampered by a subpar display, the notebook is nonetheless a decent performer at a great price. The battery life puts many other laptops – gaming or not – to shame.

 

Dell Inspiron 15 7567-4414

Who says you can’t game on a budget and still have eye candy pixels without compromising. Dell is certainly proving that it is possible with the introduction of the Inspiron 15 7000. It is powered by an Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of ultra-fast NVMe SSD. Its main attraction is the Nvidia Geforce 1050Ti, which is equivalent to Nvidia’s prior top 2 dog in the 900 series, the Geforce 970M. The latter is still a popular GPU, which is able to deliver eye candy performance; only this time around it can be had for a fraction of the cost. This means most modern games should be able to maintain a solid FPS of 45~50 on high to possibly even ultra-settings. Moving on to the chassis design Dell has implicitly designed the Inspiron 15 7000 to look like a gaming device but not too fancy or gaudy like its Alienware lineup, which is sort of a plus since the latter is a head turner for the wrong occasions. At least for the more serious users who like to game on the side, it is still be able to look professional without standing out unnecessarily. Naturally in order to keep costs down but maintaining performance, Dell has opted to go with a plastic based chassis, which isn’t to say it’s bad, overall the chassis still remains quite solid to the touch with minimal flex. In terms of IO, the Inspiron 15 7000 is equipped with 3 USB 3.0 ports, 1 HDMI port, your regular audio jack and a card reader. Disappointingly, there are no USB type C ports, which are a must for a device in 2017 these days. Weight-wise the Inspiron 15 7000 is a little on the heavy side when compared to its other competitors out there. When combined with its power adapter, it is most definitely tipping the scales past 3 kilos. This means you had better had a good computer back bag if you don’t want to strain your shoulders while moving it around. Next on the list would be its display. It is a TN based FHD panel, this is a good example of getting what you paid for, while the display isn’t that fantastic it still remains reasonably palatable. However, if you’re a user who might also be interested in some content creation, you should look elsewhere because the panel was only able to score a meager sRGB rating of 67 %. However, it should be noted that Dell offers an optional IPS panel, which, however, might break the price to performance barrier which this notebook is squarely aimed at with its base model. Over to the Inspiron 15 7000 aural capabilities its included speaker and subwoofer were able to produce a solid audio quality in both the mids and highs, which is to say at least Dell has decided not to skimp on the audio department. However, should the user so desire audio can be further enhanced with the provided MaxxAudio Pro software solution. Dell has made a good choice to keep the keyboard simple even though this notebook is targeted at gamers, while Gigabyte or MSI provide dedicated macro keys for their designs sometimes the mantra “simple is best” rings true; after all Dell has a price cap to watch for. With a key travel distance of 1.5 mm, the keyboard remains comfortable to type on although the keys tend to be on the heavier side when it comes to actuation force required. But as with keyboards this is highly subjective depending on the user. As for the touchpad, manufacturers tends to opt for a clickpad and touchpad combo these days. This can take some getting used to since without dedicated click buttons miss clicks can occur. Nonetheless, the integrated pad is quite spacious to use and even more so for a notebook of this size While there are some metrics that do not apply to gaming notebooks it seems like the Inspiron 15 7000 has managed to impress with its battery life scoring a whopping 11 hours and 23 minutes on Wi-Fi, which is quite unheard of when it comes to gaming notebooks since they tend to be on the power-hungry side. However, it should be noted here that this only applies to the TN panel based model as the IPS based model was only able to score 8 hours and 34 minutes. If you’re on a budget but still want to game with high fidelity graphics you can’t really go wrong with the Inspiron 15 7000, users just need to tune their expectations accordingly when it comes to wants and needs. If you're gaming on a budget, you can't do much better than the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming laptop. Priced at $849, it appeals to the pinch-a-penny-make-Lincoln-cry aspect of my personality, while appeasing most of my demanding gamer sensibilities and delivering a battery life that has to been seen to be believed. Plus, that Hibiscus Red is just plain purty.

With the handbrake on! After testing the Inspiron 15 with Nvidia's Max-Q technology, we have now also taken a look at the entry-level model of the series. But the storage device leaves a bit of a bad taste in our mouth.

 

Dell Inspiron 15 7577-0098

The Dell Inspiron 15 7577-0098 is a gaming laptop with an affordable price tag. Budget gaming laptops are defined by their shortcomings. These machines compromise some aspects in favor of others, so they provide decent gaming performance without the hefty price tag. The Inspiron 15 has a larger footprint than most other 15-inch laptops, thanks to its design, which uses a lot of excess plastic on the chassis. At 5.82 pounds, users will also feel the weight when carrying it around. Featuring a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with Max-Q design, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, the Inspiron 15 7577-0098 features performance that does not break the bank, yet is still able to play some games at medium performance. The 512GB SSD in the Inspiron is remarkably fast for a budget machine, easily surpassing the speed of its more expensive counterparts. Even under a heavy load, the GTX 1060 and its complement of cooling fans never get too loud - this is thanks to the Max-Q design. As far as the outer design goes, Dell sticks to the sharp, angled edges that give the Inspiron its characteristic look and feel. Though less gamer-chic than most gaming laptops, it is different enough to stand apart from plain old business devices. The black-on-red design is understated enough that it does not stand out, but coupled with the red backlighting on the keyboard, there is enough attitude for it to still feel like a gaming laptop.

The Inspiron 15 features the standard array of ports, namely three USB-A ports, one USB-C port, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, an SD card slot, an Ethernet jack, and, of course, a Kensington lock. There is enough real estate here that users never feel cramped, and everything is right where it should be. Budget gaming laptops often fall short when it comes to display quality. It is an easy aspect to neglect in order to pack a more powerful GPU inside without pushing the price too high. Unfortunately, in this case, Dell cut a little too deep. The Ultra-HD LED backlit display on the Inspiron 15 gives everything a slightly-off hue. Lime green becomes pea green, crimson becomes dull red, and so on. It is better than the display on the previous Inspiron model, if only by a narrow margin. However, it is still ill-suited for any color-sensitive work, such as photo editing, and users will likely notice that colors look off during everyday use. Speaking of parts manufacturers sometimes skimp on in order to keep costs low, speakers are usually high on that list. Fortunately for the Dell Inspiron 15 7577-0098, the speakers here manage to get the job done without any real issues. At high volumes, the sound is clear, loud and capable of filling a room. The Dell Inspiron 15 7577-0098 is the perfect gaming laptop for the masses. While dedicated gaming laptops can be expensive and are made to be serious gaming machines, the Inspiron 15 is a normal laptop with superior gaming capabilities.

Simply, if you are into battery life and solid cooling performance, the Inspiron 15 7577 definitely is the choice for you. However, if image quality is your top priority, the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition (VN7-593G) with full-fledged GTX 1060 goes around for just about the same price. A more gaming-optimized solution is the Lenovo Legion Y720 (although with unsatisfactory image quality again). You might want to consider the Acer Predator Helios 300, which sports a more powerful GTX 1060 but fails to impress with cooling performance. But in the end, it all goes down to what you are willing to sacrifice in this segment with GTX 1060 and 1060 Max-Q laptops and to this point, the best choice is probably the HP Omen 15 (2017) with GTX 1060 Max-Q, as long as you are willing to spend a little bit extra for the almost spotless IPS display (some of them ship with 120Hz refresh rate as well).

At the end of this review, we have mixed feelings about the Dell Inspiron 15 7572. It offers a lot of good features and decent specifications, and it's quite portable for a 15-inch laptop. It runs well and should be fine for home users. However, there are some truly unfortunate design decisions including sharp metal edges and a practically useless webcam. We can't understand how these things made it through even a prototyping phase in Dell's studios. Despite being slotted into the higher-tier Inspiron 7000 series, this laptop just looks drab.

Inspiron is Dell's bread-and-butter brand, lacking the glamour of the higher-priced XPS line. Inspiron 7000 laptops, however, outrank their 3000- and 5000-series kin, making them the top of the mainstream, so to speak. The Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 ($1,359.99 as tested) has the flaw built into all 15.6-inch convertibles: namely, that it's heavy and unwieldy when folded into tablet mode. But it's an otherwise appealing machine that competes well with other big convertibles—even Dell's XPS 15 2-in-1, which has some advantages (Thunderbolt 3 ports, faster AMD-based graphics) but also costs a cool thousand bucks more as tested.

I hope laptops—especially gaming laptops—continue to trend toward upgradability. One of the biggest problems with gaming laptops (compared to their desktop counterparts) is they tend to last only three or four years before they’re irrelevant. Maybe five if you don’t mind dipping settings. That’s while costing two to three times as much as comparable desktop hardware.

But again, this is a great all-around device. It has the performance that you need, with the ability to add more parts as you need it. The keyboard and trackpad are solid, and it feels premium with its aluminum build and white bezels. It's something that's worth buying if you're only looking to spend around a thousand dollars, and you might need it for something more later on.

Dell offers laptops that are suitable for various applications, such as business laptops, gaming laptops, ultra portables and workstations. Dell's business laptops from the Latitude and Precision series are an option for professional users and businesses.

In 2023, Dell had an approximate 17% market share of global PC sales, ranking #3 after Lenovo and HP.

For gaming enthusiasts, Dell's Alienware brand is for gaming notebooks.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M: Upper mid-range graphics card of the GeForce GTX 900M series.

Intel HD Graphics 520: Integrated GPU (GT2) with 24 EUs found on some Skylake CPU models (15 W ULV series).

NVIDIA GeForce 940MX: Mid-range laptop graphics card based on the Maxwell architecture. Compared to the older 940M, the MX now also supports GDDR5 graphics memory and maybe slightly faster clock speeds.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Mobile: Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 965M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile: Mainstream graphics card based on Nvidia's Pascal architecture and successor to the GeForce GTX 960M. Is manufactured in a 14nm process at Samsung and the technical specifications are very similar to the desktop version.

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

NVIDIA GeForce MX130: Mid-range graphics card for mobiles based on the Maxwell architecture. Renamed GeForce 940MX.

NVIDIA GeForce MX150: Pascal GP108 based laptop graphics card and mobile version of the desktop GeForce GT 1030. Offers 384 shader cores and usually 2 GB GDDR5 with a 64 Bit memory bus. Manufactured in 14nm.

NVIDIA GeForce MX250: Successor of the MX150 and still based on the same Pascal GP108 chip (similar to the desktop GT 1030) but with higher clock speeds. Available in two versions, a normal 25 Watt version and a low power version with 10 Watt TDP and reduced performance. The 25 Watt version e.g. offers a 21% higher boost clock than the old MX150 leading to a 5% performance gain.

Intel Xe MAX: The Intel Iris Xe MAX (DG1) is a dedicated mobile entry level graphics card based on the Gen 12 architecture (similar to the integrated graphics of the Tiger Lake processors). Compared to the Iris Xe iGPU (e.g. in the i7-1185G7), the Xe MAX offers 4 GB LPDDR4x graphics memory and higher boost clock speeds (up to 1.65 GHz versus 1.35 GHz).

With these GPUs you are able to play modern and demanding games fluently at medium detail settings and HD resolution.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 Max-Q: Efficient high end graphics card for thin and light laptops based on the same GP106 chip as the normal GTX 1060 for laptops but at slower clock speeds. Offers a approx. 15% lower performance but much lower power consumption.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti Mobile: Mid range dedicated graphics card for laptops that uses a Turing TU117 chip without raytracing and Tensor cores. Should be slightly faster than a GTX 1650, but is also available in different variants with a TGP ranging from 55 - 80 Watt (and two packages).

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.  

6700HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.

i7-8565U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4.6 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.

Intel Core i5:

6200U: Skylake-based ULV dual-core processor for thin notebooks and ultrabooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 520 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.

6300HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.

Intel Kaby Lake:

i7-7500U: Kaby-Lake based SoC with two CPU cores clocked at 2.7 to 3.5 GHz, HyperThreading and manufactured with an improved 14nm process.

i7-7700HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture. Besides four CPU cores (including Hyper Threading), the chips also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU and is manufactured in an improved 14 nm process.

i5-7300HQ: Quad-core notebook processor based on the Kaby Lake architecture running at 2.5 - 3.5 GHz without Hyper Threading (which is supported by the faster i7 CPUs). The chip also integrates the HD Graphics 630 GPU clocked at 350 - 1000 MHz and is manufactured in a 14 nm process (improved compared to Skylake).

Intel Kaby Lake Refresh:

i5-8550U: Kaby-Lake-Refresh based low power quad-core processor. The four cores are clocked between 1.8 and 4 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading. The integrated GPU is clocked between 300 and 1,150 MHz. The SoC is manufactured in a 14nm+ FinFET process.

i5-8250U: Kaby-Lake-Refresh based low power quad-core processor. The four cores are clocked between 1.6 and 3.4 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading. The integrated GPU is clocked between 300 and 1,100 MHz. The SoC is manufactured in a 14nm+ FinFET process.

Intel Coffee Lake:

i5-9300H: On Coffee Lake architecture based processor for big and heavy laptops. Integrates four processor cores clocked at 2.4 - 4.1 GHz (4 GHz with 4 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++).

i7-9750H: A high-performance hexa-core processor of the Coffee Lake product family designed for the larger laptops. Integrates six processor cores clocked at 2.6 - 4.5 GHz (4 GHz with 6 cores) that support HyperThreading. Manufactured in an improved 14nm process (14nm++).

Intel Tiger Lake:

i7-1165G7: An upper mid-range, quad-core processor of Tiger Lake product family. The i7 is designed for use in ultra-light (yet actively cooled) laptops; it is manufactured on Intel's third-gen 10 nm process marketed as SuperFin. The CPU cores run at 2.8 GHz (base clock speed @ 28 W TDP) to 4.7 GHz (single-core Boost frequency). This i7 features the 96 EU Intel Iris Xe G7 iGPU; it was the second-fastest CPU of TGL-UP3 line-up when Intel initially launched the series in 2020.
