Maintenance miracle. Unfortunately, this is pretty rare nowadays: The maintenance hatch, which is very easy to remove, allows access to all major components of the new multimedia notebook from Dell. Another highlight is the high-resolution 4K touchscreen and thanks to its GTX 960M GPU, it should also attract gamers. Unfortunately, some issues affect the initial good impression.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7559 is a good choice if you are looking for a high-end portable workstation that also allows some amount of casual gaming and 4K is a necessity. If you are in search of a serious gaming machine, you will have to look further into more expensive but top-performing gaming laptops like the Acer Predator 15 or the slightly cheaper ASUS ROG G501 that boasts similar specifications.

The Inspiron lacks a few features that most gaming notebooks offer. With that said the understated look of the notebook may be more welcome in boardrooms than most hard angled, LED laden gaming notebooks.

Overall, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 blew us away with exceptional 4K graphics, splendid touch screen, quick app and boot times. Sound quality and battery life could have been better. So it all boils down to the price, doesn't it? Well, at that price there are gaming laptops available from makers like Asus and Acer. But, Dell wins when it comes to the latest specs and performance combo.

With that in mind, it’s hard to justify the premium that the Dell Inspiron 15 7559 demands. The real problem is that it offers nothing for that premium. The cooling solution is really good, but the laptop is heavier, slower (albeit more consistent), more expensive than and not as well-built as the competition.

On the other hand, ASUS ROG G551 offers better and more durable design, and has a very good choice of display (when compared to the Inspiron which has poor sRGB coverage). We can’t but mention the lack of PWM across all brightness levels – agreat advantage important for our health. All these characteristic features can help you decide which one is for you, and we shall continue with our battles between the most interesting and affordable gaming laptops.

The Inspiron 15 7559 is a very good premium multimedia laptop that you really can't go wrong with. Mind you, it is on the expensive side but we feel that the overall package should leave you satisfied. You get a great UHD display, beefy components, and a good set of speakers for all your multimedia needs. The laptop performs very well thanks to the included SSD, which has about enough capacity for the OS and one or two games. The laptop can handle most heavy games too, provided you don't play at the native resolution.

The first laptop I ever bought with my own money was a Dell Inspiron. It was big, ugly, and exactly what I needed at the time -- a cheap computer with just enough processing power to play the latest Half-Life game. That boring black obelisk look notwithstanding, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 is a great PC for gaming on the cheap.

The Dell Inspiron 15 7559 is a mid-range laptop (£999) attempting to bring a 4K display to the mass enthusiast audience. However, the Inspiron has solid foundations aside from its glorious 4K display. The Skylake Core i7-6700HQ is a very powerful CPU, providing great results across our tests, including SiSoft Sandra and Cinebench R15. It certainly wipes the floor with my desktop Core i3-4160. One area that could be enhanced is the system memory. Presumably to keep costs down, Dell use older DDR3 RAM (PC3-12800) in the Inspiron instead of newer, faster DDR4 memory. It is not a huge problem as the system still performs very well, but DDR4 support would help provide extra security for those looking for a ‘future-proof’ laptop.

All in all, I am quite impressed with the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series. For someone looking for a laptop that they will be comfortable using day-to-day in productivity tasks that they can use to play games in their off time, the Inspiron 15 is a great choice. Unlike most gaming laptops we see, the Inspiron 15 doesn't require you to sacrifice things like thickness, weight, and battery life to get a discrete GPU capable of playing most titles at 1080p.

The Inspiron’s chassis design is a win in our book. It is sturdy and stylish, inspiring a level of premium build quality in line with a higher price tag than you'd likely pay for this machine. On top of that, it really is easy to access its internal components, if you’re likely to consider an upgrade down the road.

While the slow hard drive can be quite a nuisance, stand out features, like the impressive battery and loud sound system, definitely help make up for it. You might have to turn up the volume quite a bit to drown out the noise from two cooling fans, but that's ultimately a small price to pay when you the value and performance you out of the Inspiron 15 7000.

Ultimately, we have some mixed feelings about Dell Inspiron 7559, and strangely, depending on your region. If you’re in the USA, the laptop (which can be found under the i7559 name) is an absolute steal. The current price on Amazon.com is just $799, and this is the best you can get in this price category. Meanwhile, the identical configuration of Inspiron 7559 in the UK is £829 ($1206). That’s 50% more than in the USA and dramatically changes things.

If you’ve read the rest of this review then you should know by now that the Inspiron 15-7559 delivers fantastic bang for your bucks. For several hundred dollars less than the ASUS ZenBook Pro UX501JW or the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro, you can get your hands on a Windows 10 notebook that delivers much of the same or better gaming performance. This notebook makes a great family PC for general use even if you aren’t a gamer; we can imagine most college students would be happy with the Inspiron 15-7559 as long as they don’t need to haul their laptop to class.

The Dell Inspirion 15 7000 Series (7559) is an excellent value, offering good gaming and productivity performance at a reasonable price. It scored close to more-expensive systems on the tests, even beating them in some cases. And it sports a solid, albeit somewhat hefty, chassis and a full HD display and manages to include extras like dual-band wireless, Ethernet, Bluetooth, a backlit keyboard, and decent port options. The Alienware 15 is at the very top end of the budget price range, and though it does offer more features, and its performance on some tests was better, the differences aren't worth the $700 jump in price. For those reasons, the Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series (7559) is our new Editors' Choice for entry-level gaming laptops.

This year’s Dell Inspiron 15 7000 shows that no laptop is without its compromises. The display is unsatisfactory, the build is flimsy in some places, and the mechanical hard drive leaves much to be desired, but ultimately these corners are the right ones to cut in search of a solid budget laptop.

How to describe the Inspiron 15 7559 in a nutshell? Something like this: At the moment, it’s hard to find a better notebook if your goal is to comfortably play the latest games at 1080p for as little money as possible. This redesigned Inspiron 15 model allows you to do just that, dipping under the four-figure wave at just $799.99 with its Core i5 quad-core processor and powerful graphics.

Lumpy but suggesting longevity, the Inspiron 15 7000 Series ought to survive as desktop replacement at home or the office. Powerful discrete graphics will please gamers and professionals, although the reflective screen and a trying trackpad knock points off usability. If you can live with these foibles, it's good value.

It's hard to be good at one thing, so it's nice to see that the Dell Inspiron 15-7000 has a handle on several. The laptop's redesign is sexy as all get-out and sets it apart from all the MacBook clones in the world. This machine's mid-tier graphics delivers pretty solid framerates, too, while its battery life puts most gaming laptops to shame.

So, what do we make of the Dell Inspiron 15 7559? It is currently has the highest gaming performance/price ratio under $900-$1000, also thanks to Skylake I5. The Skylake I5 is a powerful yet less power hungry and throttling prone than the I7 and unlike previous I5 mobile CPUs, it has 4 cores, not 2, which makes it a lot more powerful for 3D and gaming too.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.
6700HQ: Skylake-based quad-core processor for notebooks. Offers an integrated HD Graphics 530 GPU and is manufactured in 14 nm.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
15.60":
15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
» To find out how fine a display is, see our DPI List.2.67 kg:
With this weight, a laptop is rather heavier than average. Devices in this range shine more with screen size and performance than with mobility.
