Reviews for the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus 7620
The Inspiron 16 Plus 7610 is barely a year old, but the newer Inspiron 16 Plus 7620 brings enough changes both inside and out that performance hunters and even content creators may want to take notice.

Most of the core strengths of the 7610 model are still present and correct. The 3K display remains a cracker, the sound system can wake the dead, and it’s great to have three GPU options. The 16 Plus is still good value, too, with both the optional Nvidia GPUs being notably cheap upgrades. On the other hand, the numeric keyboard has vanished, you can’t add a second SSD or upgrade both RAM cards, and the barrel power jack should surely have been replaced by a second Type-C port – especially since Dell doesn’t bundle a DC charger. Shorn of its chrome highlights, the new model looks a bit dowdy compared to the old model, too. As such, the Dell Inspiron 16 Plus is still good, but not quite as good.

The Dell Inspiron 16 Plus is a very likable mainstream laptop that reminds you that stability is a good thing – basically, it's Paul Rudd. Although it lacks a wow factor, its solid, consistent performance will cover the needs of most users. The Inspiron does enough of everything well and adds all-day battery life. It’s not the Hulk, but Ant-Man is a superhero and gets the job done. At the end of the day, the HP Inspiron 16 Plus ($1,599.99) compares favorably with its competitors in every way and allows you to not only create and edit content, but get a little gaming in. If you’re sold on getting a MacBook Pro, it’s an excellent laptop with the exception of gaming natively on it, but thanks to Nvidia’s recent GeForce Now upgrades, you can circumvent that problem. However, if you want the larger display or simply aren’t a macOS fan, the Dell Inspiron 16 is an excellent and relatively affordable performer.

The Dell Inspiron 16 Plus is an appealing laptop in most aspects. It's reasonably priced, relatively portable, and mostly well put together, with solid performance and battery life. The screen is its biggest shortcoming, though more disappointing than outright poor. Otherwise, it checks most boxes for general users and can handle moderate workloads for creative pros. Though competent across the board, the Inspiron isn't a standout. That's a soft negative, mainly centered on the display and a build that feels less premium than that of some competitors in the same price ballpark. But if you're concerned with functionality first, especially with a combination of a big screen and good battery life, this is a capable big-screen choice for general use.

15-inch display variants are the standard and are used for more than half of all laptops.
The reason for the popularity of mid-sized displays is that this size is reasonably easy on the eyes, often allows high resolutions and thus offers rich details on the screen, yet does not consume too much power and the devices can still be reasonably compact - simply the standard compromise.
