Xiaomi will soon begin a crowdfunding campaign for a new smart home product in China: the Smart Outdoor Camera 4 4G Dual-Camera Edition. This security device offers a range of more advanced features.
The new Xiaomi Smart Outdoor Camera has dual 5MP cameras capturing 3K resolution (2,880 x 1,620 px) images. The upper lens is fixed in place, while the lower can pan, tilt and zoom, allowing you to observe two areas simultaneously. This model offers full color night vision and can use AI to detect humans and vehicles.
Xiaomi’s new version of the Smart Outdoor Camera 4 supports 4G, making it the first device of its kind from the brand. It comes with built-in China Telecom and China Unicom SIM cards, switching between the two to optimize the signal as necessary. Plus, this is a HyperOS Connect device, which can be remotely controlled via the brand’s app and linked to other smart home products. Other features include support for two-way voice conversations with visitors, and sound and light alarms to deter intruders. Video footage can be stored locally on an up to 256GB microSD card, and the IP66-rated main unit has an operating temperature range of -30°C to 60°C (~-22°F to 140°F).
In China, the Xiaomi Smart Outdoor Camera 4 4G Dual-Camera Edition will crowdfund via the brand’s Youpin platform. Backers will be asked to pledge CNY 379 (~$55), a discount on the CNY 499 (~$72) RRP. Whether or when it could be released in other markets like the EU remains to be seen; here, the company already sells other security cameras like the Outdoor Camera CW700S (curr. €79.99 at Mi Store DE).
