Xiaomi debuts solar-powered security camera for off-grid monitoring

Xiaomi is now rolling out its Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition in China, aimed at users who require surveillance in places without electricity or internet access, such as farmland or construction sites. The device houses a 9,900mAh battery which Xiaomi claims lasts more than a week on a single charge, paired with a 7.6W solar panel that keeps it running indefinitely as long as adequate sunlight is present. Dual 4G SIM connectivity allows for automatic switching between carriers in order to maintain a stable connection and for remote monitoring via the Xiaomi Home app.
The camera features two 5 MP sensors capable of recording 3K video, one fixed for wide coverage, the other for the tracking of moving subjects using AI. A motion-activated recording mode helps to conserve storage by lowering frame rates during quiet periods and resuming full-speed recording when activity is detected. Other features include color night vision with white lights and infrared illumination, two-way voice communication, and IP66 certification for outdoor durability
Priced at 649 yuan (approx. $96), Xiaomi has not yet confirmed an international launch for the Smart Solar Camera 4 Pro 4G Dual-Camera Edition. Judging from past releases, Xiaomi may launch it in global markets sometime in the third or fourth quarter of 2026 at a price 20 to 30% higher than its domestic pricing. Comparable alternatives include the eufy SoloCam S340 or the Reolink Argus 3 Pro.
