Shelly is working on a successor to the Eye camera
A new Shelly Camera is set to be unveiled in Europe in the next few weeks. This will be the first smart security camera released by the brand in many years. While its design has yet to be revealed, its features are said to include local video storage, and it will not require users to have a subscription.

Shelly Europe has announced that it will soon launch a new smart security camera. The Bulgarian company already offers a wide range of smart home products, including sensors, bulbs and switches (Shelly 1 Gen4 curr. $21.99 at Amazon).

The first product in Shelly’s new camera range is referred to as the Shelly Camera. According to the company, these products will not require a subscription, with local video processing and storage via RTSP/ONVIF. This should suit users of Network Attached Storage (NAS) or Network Video Recorder (NVR) devices.

Further details about the Shelly Camera, like its full specification and design, have yet to be confirmed by the company. The company’s last smart security camera, the Shelly Eye, had a built-in PIR sensor for motion detection and presence sensing, an IR LED for low lighting, and an integrated microphone and speaker for communication.

The new Shelly Camera is expected to be on show at the Light + Building trade fair, which will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, from March 8th to 13th. When this product will become available to purchase, and how much it will cost, remains to be seen.
