Verdict

The Baseus Security X1 Pro is a versatile wireless outdoor security camera that offers you everything from an easy-to-install design, two independent 3K cameras with a 300° field of view, sharp image quality, a solid battery life, and a built-in 3 W self-adjusting solar panel to up to 512 GB of local storage and smart features such as two-way talk, patrol mode, and Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility.

Though there are some minor quibbles. Speaking more precisely, if your 2.4 GHz WiFi isn’t reliable, you may notice occasional lags when accessing live streams and tweaking the settings. Plus, I also felt that the X1 Pro’s zoom isn’t good enough to capture finer details. I hope Baseus will take some notes from here.

Price and Availability

The Baseus Security X1 Pro camera is currently available at $199 via Amazon. Additionally, the Baseus Amazon storefront is offering a $30 on-page discount coupon, bringing the price down from $199 to just $169 for a limited time. Interestingly, there’s local storage support up to 512 GB. No cloud fees and no monthly subscriptions, making it a huge selling point.

Outdoor security cameras aren’t just recording anymore—they are getting smarter. The smart home solutions maker brands are raising the bar for home security by integrating AI-powered features like motion detection and subject tracking, and Baseus’s latest offering, the X1 Pro, is no exception.

I have been using the X1 Pro for a couple of days now, and this Baseus outdoor security camera doesn't have any major downsides, except for a few minor quibbles. More on this in the performance section.

Design and Build

The Baseus X1 Pro security camera with a built-in 3 W solar panel

The Baseus Security X1 Pro has quite a unique design I have ever seen in security cameras. Unlike other security cameras that are more on the compact side, the X1 Pro is a bit chunky. The camera has two independent lenses, a large 7,800 mAh battery, dual PIR sensors, and a motorized 3 W solar panel all in one housing, which makes it bulkier.

Dimensionally, the sci-fi drone-style X1 Pro measures 5.07 x 4.31 x 3.11 inches (128.7 x 109.4 x 78.7 mm) and weighs around 3.3 lbs (1.4 kg). I really liked its practical design, which solves a real-world problem. Speaking more precisely, the security camera does the work of two cameras, thanks to its motorized swivel mounts, allowing it to cover a 300° field of view.

As far as the build is concerned, the hard plastic build of the X1 Pro feels solid and quite premium in hand. On top of this, it comes with IP65 water and dust resistance. Besides the body, there’s a 3 W solar panel that sits above the camera. Interestingly, the solar panel is mounted on a motorized pivot that can automatically track the sun and adjust its angle up to 120° (60° left + 60° right). On top of this, the solar panel is also detachable, meaning you can install it separately. In my case, I installed the solar panel slightly away from the camera for high-efficiency charging.

As for buttons and ports, there are a USB-C port, a microSD card slot, and a sync button on the back side of the camera. It has a dedicated speaker as well, which can produce up to 90 dB of sound. Upfront, you get a microphone and an LED, which acts as a working status indicator.

Setup and features

The Baseus X1 Pro security camera has two 100 lumen spotlights

Setting up the Baseus Security X1 Pro was an easy-peasy task. If this is your first security camera from Baseus, you’ll have to download the app and create an account. Later, you have to add the choice of the camera from the list. Once selected, press the sync button on the camera and hold it for five seconds. After that, the camera name will pop up; you have to connect it to WiFi, and you're done. It hardly took me 2 minutes to finish this entire setup.

The X1 Pro is quite easy to install. You can pretty much install it anywhere, from a concrete wall and tree to a wooden surface. I installed the X1 Pro in the corner pillar of my house, which gives me a proper viewing angle of both sides (front and left side) of my home. Baseus offers its patented three-axis flexible bracket, which provides multiple mounting angles for the best view at all times.

Now, let’s talk about its features. The Baseus Security X1 Pro camera has dual cameras, and each lens offers 3K resolution with up to 8x digital zoom. Plus, each lens provides you with a 105° horizontal view with up to 55° additional motorized panning. In static mode, it offers 210° horizontal coverage. When combining both lenses, the X1 Pro provides a sweeping 300° field of view.

Baseus has packed a smorgasbord of features into the X1 Pro, including smart AI detection, auto patrol, sentry mode, color / B&W night vision, custom privacy zones, an auto sun-powered tracking system, instant two-way chat, and voice assistant compatibility. Unlike the other security cameras, the X1 Pro comes with up to 512 GB local storage support. This means you don't need an expensive cloud subscription just to store your security footage. This not only saves your money but also offers total control over your own data without sacrificing encryption. It uses AES and RSA protocols, in case you were curious.

Performance

The Baseus X1 Pro security camera provides a sweeping 300° field of view

In my tests, the Baseus Security X1 Pro performed admirably while delivering excellent video quality. The camera managed to pull out well-saturated colors while retaining appealing sharpness and details. The camera supports up to 8x digital zoom, but it doesn’t offer you solid clarity at high zoom levels.

The surveillance gadget has both full-color and black-and-white IR night vision support. During nighttime, the X1 Pro does capture good footage with sharp clarity. Plus, there are two dedicated 100-lumen LED spotlights. With spotlights enabled, both lenses provided relatively good color quality at night. Although the colors weren’t as catchy as those during the day.

I noticed the siren and spotlight were decently loud and bright, and motion detection alerts were accurate and timely. The AI detection is quite accurate. The camera differentiated effortlessly between pets, people, and vehicles. I’m really impressed by its AI subject tracking, which automatically follows the subject from camera to camera flawlessly without any blackouts or stutters.

While testing the camera, I noticed occasional lags when accessing the live stream and also tweaking settings. It happened because my 2.4 GHz WiFi isn’t strong enough to support smooth streaming. I would recommend installing the camera as near as possible to the router for a seamless streaming experience. Smart home enthusiasts can also integrate it with Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

As for battery life, I only charged the security gadget once before installing. After installation, I haven’t charged it once, thanks to the 3 W solar panel, which is doing its job effectively. Baseus claims that 20 minutes of sun can power a full day of operation.

App

The X1 Pro has Baseus Security companion app support, which is available on both iOS and Android devices. The companion app is very user-friendly, offering all the essential features. The security app allows you to do pretty much everything, from split-screen live views of both cameras and a timeline playback system to full-screen landscape mode, two-way talk, and setting direction. On top of this, you can also record videos; take photos; and switch the spotlight lamp, alarms, or night vision on or off.

Besides, there’s also patrol mode that allows two independent 3K cameras to automatically rotate and scan your property at preset intervals. This mode basically keeps the cameras in motion even when no activity is detected.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a robust, reliable, subscription-free, feature-packed wireless outdoor security camera with a built-in solar panel, you can’t go wrong with the Baseus Security X1 Pro camera.
