Rumours about the Mi Mix 4 have been rife for a few months now, with MyDrivers recently claiming that the successor to the Mi Mix 3 will feature a 4,500 mAh battery and 30 W fast charging. Frequent leaker @Sudhanshu1414 previously claimed that Xiaomi had "tentatively scheduled" the release of the Mi Mix 4 for September, which has since been reinforced by Xiaomishka, another credible source of Xiaomi insider information.
In a wide-ranging article, Xiaomishka states that Xiaomi will release the Mi Mix on September 24 where it will also unveil MIUI 11, its custom version of Android 10. As we previously reported, the Mi Mix 4 may be the first candidate to feature Samsung's new 108 MP ISOCELL sensor, which Xiaomi will complement with a 16 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12 MP telephoto lens that will support up to 5x optical zoom.
These camera specifications alone would elevate the Mi Mix 4 to being mentioned in the same conversation as the Huawei P30 Pro and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, although it remains to be seen whether Samsung's 108 MP ISOCELL sensor can live up to expectations.
Undoubtedly, the Mi Mix 4 will be sporting at least a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, with Xiaomishka suggesting that Xiaomi may reserve for the Snapdragon 855+ for a special edition model. The same applies to 5G, with Xiaomi releasing a dedicated Mi Mix 3 5G SKU earlier this year. Additionally, a recent tweet by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun implies that the company has nixed the slider of the Mi Mix 3 in favour of a candy bar design last seen in the Mi Mix 2S. We are still awaiting certifications or official render images, so while Xiaomishka has been reliable previously, we would still recommend exercising some caution with the latest set of leaks.
