Just yesterday, we reported that the Mi Mix 4 could be on the way after all. It looks like we were dead wrong, as a Xiaomi staff has now confirmed that the company has no plans of releasing another Mi Mix device after the launch of the Mix Alpha last week.
That's got to hurt. Twice now, fans of the company have had the rugs pulled from under them, with respect to the Mix 4. The Mix Alpha, impressive as it is, is just too expensive to be attainable to the average consumer. The Mix 4, especially considering the myriad of colorful leaks it was associated with, was expected to be a high-profile successor to the positively-received Mix 3.
Sadly, we will not be getting it at all. According to the staff—apparently a brand promotion manager—there will be no Mix 4, and neither does Xiaomi have any such device in the pipes. That's it. Fin. The Mix 4 is dead.
Xiaomi similarly clarified that it would not be releasing an Mi Max 4 this year and it may be a case of the company trying to focus on its more commercially productive offerings. Unless, of cause, this is all just intentionally misleading marketing. A man can dream.
