The new Dangbei DBOX02 Pro tries to make using a 4K projector less intimidating to novices. Its gimbal stand and auto-correction features enable versatile setup options. At the same time, it targets more expensive projectors with bright and sharp images at a reasonable cost.

As large 4K TVs have become affordable, projectors are now more practical alternatives. Dangbei has returned with yet another 4K projector that adapts to evolving home setups. The DBOX02 Pro is capable of 4K 120Hz gaming through dual HDMI 2.1 ports. Like the DBOX02, it also offers integrated Google TV, rivaling the versatility of smart TVs. The Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is in stock on Amazon for $1,599, with a $300 off coupon code available.

The latest Dangbei 4K projector relies on ALPD Laser Technology, which combines high brightness with a wide color palette. The 2000 ISO Lumens output of the DBOX02 Pro isn't class-leading, but it promises enough brightness to handle ambient light. Dangei advertises its improved LaserVibe technology as capable of reducing more distortion from 4K images.

Unlike the original DBOX02, the DBOX02 Pro ships with a gimbal stand by default. Owners can rotate the projector 360 degrees and adjust the vertical tilt to a range of up to 120 degrees. The 4K laser projector has Auto Focus and Auto Keystone, which adjust to accommodate most placement options. Also, AI Brightness continuously monitors rooms for changes in lighting conditions. Buyers can pair the projector with a maximum 300-inch screen, even if it significantly reduces brightness.

How the Dangbei DBOX02 streamlines home theater setups

Dangei's DBOX02, formerly known as the Mars Pro 2, made headlines as the first 4K laser projector boasting official Netflix compatibility. The newest model supports many of the same popular streaming apps with optional voice control.

At 10.5 lbs., the DBOX02 Pro isn't the most portable projector, despite a compact exterior. Still, built-in dual 12-watt speakers allow viewers to move it between rooms without a lengthy setup process.

The current Amazon promotion reduces the price of the DBOX02 Pro to $1,299 before it ends on July 7th. However, Dangbei projector models typically experience regular discounts following their debuts.
