Dangbei DBOX02: New projector with 4K resolution and lots of brightness
Dangbei announced the Mars Pro 2 some time ago, and the model is now available under a different name, having been renamed to DBOX02. The device is a relatively bright and fast projector.
The model supports the playback of 4K material and has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, but pixel shifting is supported so that a higher resolution can be displayed. The brightness is specified at 3,100 ANSI lumens, which is a very decent brightness level. This means that a solid viewing experience can be achieved even in rooms that are not sufficiently dark.
The lamp life is specified as 30,000 hours in Eco mode, which in fact corresponds to the service life of the device. An image between 60 and 200 inches in size can be projected; a projection between 80 and 120 inches in size is recommended. The projection ratio is specified as 1.27:1, and the refresh rate depends on the resolution: 240 Hz for Full HD resolution and 60 Hz when displaying 4K content.
The DBOX02 comes with Google TV, so content from Netflix or Prime Video, for example, can be played directly. Netflix licensing is available and the app is pre-installed. External players can be connected via HDMI. Two USB 2.0 ports are on board. WiFi is available, but not an Ethernet connection.
The model is currently available directly from the manufacturer at a price of $1,499.
