BenQ has launched two new gaming projectors, the TK710 and the TK710STi. Both devices have a laser light source that is said to deliver up to 3,200 lumens brightness and last for up to 20,000 hours. The DLP projectors can throw images up to 150 inches (~380 cm) wide with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
BenQ claims that these models have a native 4K UHD resolution, “true 4K UHD”, though the 3,840 x 2,160 px measurement and the low price point suggest that these are pixel-shifting models. The products also have a 600,000:1 contrast ratio with a Lightsource Dimming tool and 95% Rec.709 color gamut coverage. Gaming features include HDR game modes, a 16.7 ms input lag for a 4K@60Hz resolution, 4.2 ms for 1080P@240Hz, and two HDMI (2.0b/HDCP2.2) ports. Other shared features are a built-in 5W speaker, HDMI eARC with support for Dolby Atmos, USB-A 2.0 and RS232 interfaces.
The TK710 has a 1.15-1.5 throw ratio and offers 1.3x zoom, while the short-throw TK710STi has a 0.69-0.83 throw ratio with 1.2x zoom. Picture-perfecting tools include vertical and horizontal keystone correction, as well as vertical lens shift for the standard model. Another difference noted in the Specifications section is the QS02 Android dongle found in the STi variant but not the standard model. You can now buy the BenQ TK710 and TK710STi Casual Gaming Projectors for $1,799/€1,499/£1,399/AU$3,499 and $1,999/€1,599/£1,599, respectively.
