The Pentonic 800's CPU and GPU speed boosts compared to those of its 700 predecessor are central to its Computex 2024 preview - as are that of its APU - which is just as well, as the SoC's picture quality, clarity and depth apparently hinge on the strength of the new platform's AI.
It powers features such as the latest versions of MediaTek's AI-Picture Quality Object Recognition (2.5); AI-Picture Quality Scene Recognition (2.0+); AI-Super Resolution (3.0) and AI-Contrast (2.0). Those features are touted to boost upscaling, signal optimization, MEMC and depth reproduction on a Pentonic 800-powered TV.
The SoC is also pitched at OEMs who want to make the up-to-165Hz VRR 4K screen of the future, with Dolby Vision and HDR10+. The platform also Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X for audio purposes.
MediaTek also strongly hints that it could be installed alongside an own-brand Filogic platform that supports Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi 6, 6E or even 7 for seamless wireless gaming.
