MediaTek Pentonic 700 is a new watch-party-friendly chipset for up-to-4K 120Hz, gaming-ready smart TVs
The Pentonic 700 is MediaTek's latest TV-specific SoC, set at what is a just sub-flagship level at this stage. However, it has debuted as all a smart TV manufacturer needs to make their next 4K big screen all it can be, especially given the "wall" of multiple windows it is rated to create within the display in question.
They are, of course, for purposes such as virtual watch-parties and video calls with various participants. MediaTek has also equipped the new 700 with features such as 2nd-gen AI-Picture Quality Scene Recognition, AI-Picture Quality and Object Recognition and AI-Super Resolution 2.0 to make the depth-reproduction, detail reconstruction and sharpness in a given TV as "smart" as possible.
The 700 also packs most of the latest specs and standards associated with the Pentonic-series, Dolby Vision IQ with Precision Detail, Dolby Atmos, MEMC, HDR10+ for Gaming and a "4K144 VRR" mode for gaming included. It also supports up-to-date codices such as VVC, HEVC, AV1 and AVS3 .
MediaTek touts the new silicon as ready for Wi-Fi 7 as well as 6/6E, and strongly hints at a combo with the matching new Filogic modems for this purpose. It is also rated for "far-reaching and fast" Bluetooth 5. The OEM has given no indication of when it might debut in its inaugural, doubtless premium, TV, however.
