Samsung has announced the Odyssey Ark, a gaming monitor that is already available to pre-order in multiple markets. Equipped with a 55-inch display, the Odyssey Ark also has a 1000R curvature and outputs at 3,840 x 2,160 pixels (4K). While 4K remains the standard for gaming monitors, a 55-inch panel operating at this resolution results in an 80 PPI pixel density.
Still, Samsung has based the Odyssey Ark around Quantum Mini LEDs that provide 16,384 black levels and a full surface peak brightness of 600 nits. Additionally, Samsung claims that the Odyssey Ark delivers Quantum HDR 2000, not to be confused with VESA DisplayHDR certification. Regardless, the gaming monitor should reproduce almost perfect black levels, as well as offering a 1,000,000:1 static contrast ratio.

Like other gaming monitors, the Odyssey Ark's display has a matte finish to minimise reflections when gaming. Also, the large display has a 165 Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support and a 60 W speaker system consisting of four drivers and two woofers. Incidentally, Samsung pre-loads Tizen OS, allowing you to game and video stream without needing a secondary device.
Meanwhile, Samsung has included three options for wall mounting, ranging from 200x200 to 400x400. Moreover, the Odyssey Ark has a height adjustable stand (HAS), supports tilt and can be pivoted to be used as a vertical monitor. Furthermore, Samsung bundles the Ark Dial, an exclusive controller for the Odyssey Ark that allows you to control numerous settings, such as Game Bar, Flex Move Screen, Multi View and Quick Settings. It is worth noting that Samsung has contained the Odyssey Ark's I/O on a dedicated unit, presumably to facilitate Cockpit Mode. The Samsung Odyssey Ark is already orderable in several countries, including the US, where it retails for US$3,499.99.
