Jabra Elite 5: Leak confirms specifications, design and colour options ahead of launch
Roland Quandt has leaked the Jabra Elite 5, next-generation earbuds that could replace both the Elite 3 and Elite 4 Active. For some reason, Jabra elected against releasing the Elite 4, with the Elite 4 Active succeeding the Elite 3. However, the company still sells the Elite 3, albeit at a discount. Potentially, Jabra could include the Elite 5 in its lineup without dropping the Elite 4 Active or the Elite 3, although that seems unlikely given the similarities between the Elite 3 and the Elite 5.
Specifically, the Elite 5 utilises 6 mm drivers, mirroring the Elite 3 and Elite 4 Active. Similarly, the Elite 5 offers active noise-cancellation (ANC), a feature present on the Elite 4 Active but not on the Elite 3. Also, Quandt's leak outlines that the Elite 5 supports up to 28 hours of battery life with its charging case, or 7 hours of continuous use. Likewise, the Elite 5 features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and is IP55 certified, yet more similarities with the Elite 3.
Thankfully, Jabra has included some upgrades in the Elite 5. On the one hand, the Elite 5 has six microphones, a feature shared with the Elite 7 series. Incidentally, the Elite 5 can summon Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, with controls handled by touch panels on each earbud. Currently, pricing and a release date are unknown. For context, the Jabra Elite 4 Active still retails for US$89.99, having launched for US$119.99. Ultimately, the Elite 5 seems like a minor upgrade from the Elite 3 and Elite 4 Active, at least based on the details that have leaked so far.
