LG TONE Free T90, TONE Free Fit TF7 and TONE Free Fit TF8 unveiled with 3D audio, ANC and UV disinfection functionality
LG has introduced the TONE Free T90 and two pairs of TONE Free Fit earbuds, model numbers TF7 and TF8. According to LG's press release, all models come with a charging case that supports its UVnano technology. Equipped with UV LEDs, the charging case disinfects the earbuds with UV light as they charge. Unlike older models, the charging case can disinfect all parts of the earbuds, as well as the speaker membranes themselves.
Theoretically, LG's UVnano technology should prevent allergies and ear infections. Additionally, all the earbuds deliver decent battery life, although wireless charging is only possible with the TONE Free T90. In saying that, all models have water-resistant housings and active noise cancellation (ANC). Likewise, LG has included Headphone Spatial Processing (HSP), courtesy of LG's collaboration with audio specialist Meridian.
Furthermore, the TONE Free T90 are the first earbuds to launch with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking. Incidentally, the TONE Free T90 also supports Snapdragon Sound for 24-bit Bluetooth transmission at 96 kHz, but only if a paired smartphone supports the Qualcomm aptX codec. By contrast, the TONE Free Fit TF7 and TONE Free Fit TF8 only offer Bluetooth AAC and SBC.
Currently, it is unclear when LG will start selling either the TONE Free T90, TONE Free Fit TF7 or TONE Free Fit TF8. However, the TONE Free T90 and TONE Free Fit TF8 will be available for US$229.99 and US$199.99, respectively, whenever they do become orderable. Seemingly, the earbuds will be in other markets too, including the Eurozone. Unfortunately, LG has not listed the TONE Free Fit TF7 on its website yet; presumably, these will be a cheaper alternative to the TONE Free Fit TF8, though.
