ZOTAC is best known for its mini-PCs, including the recently updated MAGNUS ONE series. However, it has confirmed that it will soon be tipping its toes into the burgeoning gaming handheld market with the ZONE. Based on the information the company has provided so far, the ZOTAC ZONE will set itself apart from the ROG Ally (curr. $489.99 on Amazon) and other Windows gaming handhelds in a few areas.
On the one hand, ZOTAC will equip the ZONE with an AMOLED display, a panel type that has escaped almost all Windows gaming handhelds save for a few AYANEO options. The ZOTAC ZONE will feature a 7-inch panel though, just like the ROG Ally and the MSI Claw. With that being said, it remains to be seen whether ZOTAC will opt for AMD or Intel processors.
On the other hand, the ZOTAC ZONE will offer two-stage triggers, which may operate like those on Valve's old Steam Controller. Additionally, it is possible to make out a mouse toggle on the device's rear, the exact implementation of which remains unknown at this stage. Currently, ZOTAC hopes to exhibit functional prototypes at Computex 2024 in Taipei between June 4 and June 7.
