The brand new Corsair Scuf Nomad gamepad is compatible with all iPhones that run iOS 16 or later. Unlike most of its competitors, the Scuf Nomad does not rely on Lightning or USB-C to connect to the smartphone, but on Bluetooth 5.0.
However, this has the disadvantage that the gamepad has to be charged, for which Corsair has installed a USB-C port. The battery lasts 16 hours on a single charge. The controller is said to offer first-class ergonomics thanks to its rubberized, extra-wide grips and, according to Corsair, the format is almost exactly the same as a conventional console controller. Thanks to Hall Effect joysticks, the Scuf Nomad should never drift.
In addition to the usual buttons, the gamepad also has a dedicated share button that can be used to record screenshots and video clips, as well as two paddles on the back, the function of which can be customized via the Scuf iPhone app. The app also allows you to customize the active area of the triggers, customize controller profiles for different games and launch games and game streaming apps.
Price and availability
The Corsair Scuf Nomad iPhone gamepad is now available in the manufacturer's online store for $99.99, in either black or white. As the connection is established via Bluetooth, the Scuf Nomad is compatible with both the current Apple iPhone 15 with USB-C port and older iPhones with a Lightning port.
