Roughly 24 hours has passed since ZOTAC provided the first details about the ZONE, its entry into the gaming handheld space. To recap, the company confirmed when it would officially showcase the ZONE while providing a brief look at the device from three sides, too. Additionally, although ZOTAC revealed that the ZONE would feature an AMOLED display, it was unclear what processor would underpin the device.
Subsequently, ComputerBase reported that ZOTAC's German PR team has informed them that it planned to offer the ZONE with an undisclosed 'AMD Ryzen APU'. VideoCardz has now gone much further, though by sharing a detailed specification sheet, which we have embedded below. In short, ZOTAC has chosen the Ryzen 7 8840U, unlike the Ryzen Z1 Extreme-backed ROG Ally (curr. $499.99 on Amazon). Moreover, the ZOTAC ZONE has a 48.5 Wh battery, which the company estimates will last a mere 1.25 hours between charges.
In comparison, ASUS is expected to equip the ROG Ally X with an 80 Wh battery, among other changes from the current ROG Ally. On top of that, the ZOTAC ZONE will contain hall effect joysticks and hall effect triggers that also support two-stage adjustments. Furthermore, the ZOTAC ZONE will feature 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 storage, as well as a 1080p and 120 Hz AMOLED display. While ZOTAC intends to exhibit prototype units next month at Computex 2024 in Taipei, VideoCardz's leak suggests that retail units will not begin shipping until Q3 2024.
