The Unico Neo PS1 smart projector is now crowdfunding on Indiegogo. The ultra-short throw model is designed for use at home or outdoors, and is relatively small at 190 x 94 x 67 mm (~7.5 x 3.7 x 2.7 inches). At the time of writing, the campaign has over 375 backers, raising over $118,000 and sailing past the $5,000 funding target.
The Neo PS1 has an LED light source, which is said to generate up to 1,000 ANSI lumens brightness and last for up to 30,000 hours. The DLP projector has a native 1080p resolution but can decode 4K content. With a 0.26:1 throw ratio, you can use the projector to cast images up to 150 inches (~380 cm) wide, and the image is perfected with tools like automatic correction and focus. Android TV 13 lets you stream content from various popular apps, and Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity allow wireless screen-casting. Other features include a desktop mode, an accompanying remote and a pair of built-in 5W speakers. Plus, ports on the device include USB-A 3.2 Gen2, HDMI 2.0 and an audio jack.
The Unico Neo PS1 projector’s campaign offers an Early Bird pledge of $299, described as a 60% discount on the $749 RRP. The company expects to ship to customers worldwide this August. However, there are a few things potential backers may want to consider before purchasing. This is Unico’s first Indiegogo campaign, and the website linked from their profile does not exist. There is another Taiwan-based company named Unico, though they make it clear on their homepage that they are not associated with this campaign. As with any crowdfunding campaign, there is no guarantee that backers will receive the product.
