An Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the Philips Screeneo UL5 Smart Laser Projector will launch on June 11th. The triple laser ultra short throw (UST) model follows the Screeneo U5 projector introduced in 2023. The project page for the new UL5 appeared earlier this year, providing an initial idea of the features.
It has been confirmed that the Screeneo UL5 will be available via Indiegogo for €699 (~$750/£590). The company has previously suggested that the model will have a retail price of $1,299, giving backers around a 40% discount. However, as with any crowdfunding campaign, there is no guarantee that backers will receive the product.
The UL5 has a native 1080p refresh rate, support for HRD10, 200% coverage of the Rec.709 color gamut and 108% coverage of the Rec.2020 color space. You can use the projector to throw images up to 120 inches (~300 cm) wide from short distances, thanks to a 0.23:1 throw ratio. The RGB laser light source delivers up to 550 ANSI lumens brightness, and you can adjust the image with automatic focus and vertical keystone correction tools. The Android-based LuminOS allows you to stream content from various popular apps, and the device also features built-in stereo speakers. Alternatively, you can connect an external soundbar via Bluetooth, and ports on the device include HDMI 2.1, USB-A and USB-C.
The company has hinted that the Philips Screeneo UL5 Smart Laser Projector could be available through other channels later. For example, Philips already sells projector models like the Screeneo S4 via Amazon.
