The Optoma UHZ68LV is available for preorder right now in Europe. Priced at €4,499 (around US$4,685), the device is scheduled to start shipping on 25 February. The UHZ68LV is a dual-laser projector capable of delivering a peak brightness of 5,000 ANSI lumens. This brightness level is considered very high for home use, meaning the Optoma UHZ68LV can properly illuminate a large screen area and better compensate for an inadequately darkened room. According to official specs, the light source should last up to 30,000 hours, which corresponds to over ten years of use if the projector runs eight hours daily – unrealistically high usage for home settings.
Optoma claims the projector can cover 95% of the DCI-P3 colour gamut. The PureEngine Ultra technology is designed to optimise colour reproduction, ensuring deep black levels and vibrant colours. Even though it can reach 4K resolution, the Optoma UHZ68LV appears to employ pixel shifting rather than native 4K. This is evident in the fact that the maximum possible refresh rate of 240 Hz can only be achieved at Full HD resolution. Thanks to optical zoom, the throw ratio is adjustable between 1.2 and 1.92, allowing for projection sizes ranging from 80 to 300 inches. The UHZ68LV supports lens shift and 3D playback. However, it isn’t a smart projector and thus requires an external player, which can be as simple as a streaming stick in everyday use. The projector can also be installed in portrait orientation.
Details on pricing and release date in the US haven't been announced yet.
