The Xgimi Ascend, a conceptual projector setup, has been announced. According to the brand, the concept prioritises flexibility and a stylish design, making it suitable for modern homes.
The Ascend combines the new Aura 2 ultra short throw projector with an electronic ambient light rejection (ALR) screen. Users can choose to extend the screen fully or partially to suit their needs. The Aura 2 is a DLP projector with a combined LED and laser source for up to 2,300 ISO lumens brightness, which Xgimi suggests allows you to watch content in daylight without issue. It is an ultra-short throw model with a 0.18:1 throw ratio, allowing you to throw a 100” image when the projector is placed 17.8 cm (~7.0 inches) from the screen.
One benefit of this setup is that, as the projector is placed on a media unit, it is particularly easy to install or alter. Another feature of the Ascend is a 60W Harman Kardon soundbar that is built into the screen’s base, completing the home cinema experience. The Xgimi Ascend concept product will debut at CES 2025, though it is unclear whether or when such a device could be released by the brand. At the event, Xgimi will also show the Horizon S Max (curr. $1,609.99 at Amazon) and Horizon S Pro projectors which launched in October.
