Jagex has confirmed that RuneScape: Dragonwilds, its open-world co-op survival-crafting RPG set in the fantasy universe of Gielinor, will leave Steam Early Access for its 1.0 launch on September 15, 2026. The full release arrives simultaneously on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, marking the game's first day-one console debut after selling more than a million copies during Early Access. The 1.0 version will also be available day one through Xbox Game Pass.

Ashenfall and the Scorned Wilderness raid

Set on the continent of Ashenfall, Dragonwilds blends traditional RuneScape skill progression with survival-crafting mechanics, set to a soundtrack of reorchestrated RuneScape classics alongside new original music. Players can adventure solo or in teams of up to four, leveling up skills such as woodcutting, mining, and farming while using sorcery to gather resources and traverse the world. Spells let players fall trees with a summoned spectral axe, blink past danger, and shatter ore veins to speed up gathering.

The 1.0 update introduces the Scorned Wilderness, Dragonwilds' first raid. Rather than opening a new region for open exploration, it sends players across a chain of fractured, floating islands toward the game's final boss, Kuldra, the five-headed Dragon Queen. Along the way, players build fortified bases, set up Lodestone fast-travel networks, and craft high-tier potions and gear to survive dragon attacks and battles against enemies including Zogres, Black Knights, and the new Garou. The update also overhauls combat, adding a dedicated Special Attack resource bar, camera-assisted Visceral Attacks after a successful parry, and Wands as a faster, more mobile spellcasting weapon.

Console launch and crossplay

The full release adds crossplay across PC and consoles for the first time; dedicated servers, already available on PC during Early Access, remain part of the package. Controller support carries over existing features such as the radial hotwheel for quick spell switching, alongside a new default of camera-relative aiming, which points attacks and spells toward the camera's direction rather than the character's facing.

Creative Mode, a relaxed base-building option introduced during Early Access, also continues into 1.0. Jagex has previously flagged a permadeath-focused Hardcore Mode as a planned future addition, though it has not confirmed a release date.
