Marvelous has unveiled Eternal Anima, a legacy-driven time-travel JRPG launching worldwide on March 4, 2027. The game was revealed during the Nintendo Direct on September 9, 2026, and represents the full reveal of Project Life is RPG, a title first teased in 2023. Eternal Anima is being developed by a team of RPG veterans, including director Katsuhisa Higuchi, story concept writer Keisuke Makino, and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima, known for his work on Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and X, and the Kingdom Hearts series. The game will release simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.

Time travel, psychometry, and future sight combat

Eternal Anima is set in a world almost entirely covered by ocean, where Urvis Ael stands as the last remaining kingdom after four continents sank beneath the waves over a thousand years. In Urvis Ael, yearning for a better future is considered a capital offense. After protagonist Wade questions this rule, he goes on the run across generations to save civilizations of the past from catastrophe and uncover the truth behind his world's history.

Wade's powers drive both progression and combat. Through psychometry, he deciphers memories held within artifacts, letting him inherit the abilities and classes of past heroes. In battle, the turn-based Future Sight system reveals what enemies plan to do each turn, letting players counter, delay, or cancel those actions before they happen.

Launch date, pricing, and physical editions

Marvelous USA has confirmed physical Standard Editions, priced at $49.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on Switch 2, which ships with the full game on cartridge, alongside Limited Editions priced at $79.99 on PS5 and $89.99 on Switch 2. The Limited Edition includes a copy of the game, an art book, a two-disc soundtrack, and nine character art cards with a display stand.

Eternal Anima launches globally on March 4, 2027, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
