BlizzCon 2026: Warcraft RTS Returns & WoW: Forever announced

Blizzard Entertainment used its two-day BlizzCon 2026 showcase (September 12-13) in Anaheim to lay out the future of the Warcraft franchise. The headline reveals included a surprise campaign for Warcraft III: Reforged, the official unveiling of World of Warcraft: Forever, and a story update for The Last Titan.

In a shadow-drop during the opening ceremony, Blizzard released Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom, the strategy title's first new story campaign since 2003's The Frozen Throne. The roughly 30-hour release splits into a four-mission prologue, Last Days of Lordaeron, and a main campaign built around a soft open-world RPG structure inspired by the Rexxar campaign from The Frozen Throne. 

Together they cover the fallout of Arthas Menethil's return to Lordaeron and the rise of Sylvanas Windrunner and the Forsaken, taking players through Stratholme and into the founding of the Undercity. Patch 3.0 also adds a Definitive Edition graphics mode, a new inventory and talent system for the campaign, 24-unit group selection, World Editor and lighting improvements, and a new neutral hero for multiplayer, the Forsaken Paladin.

WoW Forever launches November 4 with four new zones

For MMORPG fans, Blizzard confirmed World of Warcraft: Forever, a standalone third experience alongside Modern and Classic WoW. Launching November 4, with beta access from September 17, Forever adds four new zones, including Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle, Shen'dralas, and the Riverglades, plus more than 1,000 new quests, nine dungeons, two raids sized for 10 and 20 players, and a 15-versus-15 Darkspear Islands battleground. It also introduces the playable Skyborne race, a neutral elven people that can join either faction, alongside new race and class combinations such as the Forsaken Paladin and Dwarf Shaman, to an expanded level 1-60 era of Azeroth.

Blizzard gave a brief update on The Last Titan, the closing chapter of the Worldsoul Saga that follows Midnight. A teaser trailer confirmed a 2027 release window and reaffirmed that the expansion returns players to a rebuilt Northrend, where a Titan conspiracy centred on Ulduar awaits, alongside the return of the Titans themselves.

Hearthstone adds Monk and a new Old God expansion

Hearthstone also had a packed showing. Blizzard revealed its next expansion, Reign of the Black Empire, launching October 20, which introduces an Old God mechanic, a card-merging Assemble keyword, and a new Aberrations minion type for Battlegrounds. The studio further confirmed Monk as Hearthstone's first new class in six years, arriving in March 2027 with Pandaren brewmaster Chen Stormstout as its signature hero.
