Smilegate confirms NPIXEL's MMOLite MMORPG Eclipse: The Awakening officially launches in South Korea on September 10, 2026, with global release details unannounced.

Smilegate has confirmed that Eclipse: The Awakening, the cross-platform MMORPG developed by NPIXEL (Gran Saga), will officially launch in South Korea on September 10, 2026. The game arrives on iOS, Android, and PC with full cross-play support, though Smilegate has not announced release details for other regions. Built on Unreal Engine 5, Eclipse: The Awakening positions itself as an "MMOLite," aiming to preserve traditional MMORPG depth while cutting back on daily grind obligations.

An original world in Ederion and Orthea

Eclipse: The Awakening skips established mythology in favor of an original setting. The story follows Seraha, a priestess of the Order in Ederion, a world that appears complete under divine blessing. After questioning the truth behind that peace, she loses everything and crosses into Orthea, a shadow world existing alongside it. Art director Kim Dong-hyuk said the studio built its own mythology around the question of why gods exist, rather than adapting an existing fantasy universe. Four classes are confirmed at launch: Fighter, Ranger, Sorceress, and Assassin, each supporting two distinct weapons that shift their combat role.

Sanctuary, authority, and skill fusion

Sanctuary, the game's offline progression hub, lets characters keep accumulating gold, experience, and summoning materials while players are away, backed by a 24-hour AI mode that continues hunting and gathering without direct input. Combat centers on Authority, built by combining six Stigmata and three Relics to unlock situational skills, alongside a separate Skill Fusion system that merges two abilities into new combined effects. PvP participation is optional rather than forced.

Guild content and cross-platform play

Guilds anchor Eclipse: The Awakening's endgame through cooperative growth content, competitive boss encounters, the High River Battlefield, and inter-server activities, though Smilegate has not detailed a specific guild-versus-guild format. The game supports simultaneous PC and mobile clients under one account. Character pre-creation across 24 Korean server groups filled in roughly 25 minutes, and Smilegate has reported over a million pre-registrations, with rewards distributed through Google Play, the App Store, and Smilegate's STOVE platform. Executive producer Lee Sang-moon said the studio aims to "establish a new standard for MMORPGs" with the release.
