GTA 6: Jason and Lucia reportedly have significantly different melee styles

As we already know from the trailers and official character descriptions released so far, Lucia is ambitious, brave and hot-tempered, while Jason is more thoughtful, cautious and reserved. However, the two main protagonists of GTA 6 apparently won't differ only in terms of personality. According to Italian content creator MikeShowSha, who was invited to a hands-off presentation of Grand Theft Auto VI at Rockstar North, the two also have different preferences when it comes to beating up their opponents. The new information was translated into English on Reddit by user u/El_Pintor64 and has since also been picked up by Insider Gaming.

Lucia is reportedly a very technical fighter. Her style is said to be based on kickboxing and mixed martial arts. Jason, on the other hand, is expected to rely primarily on brute strength in melee combat. As a result, close-quarters fights could feel noticeably different depending on the chosen character. The second trailer may have already provided a small hint. At 1:54, Jason simply throws his opponent against a car. In the very next scene, Lucia can be seen delivering a precise kick in a boxing ring. Whether these combat styles are fixed or can be developed and customized through training remains unclear.

The distinction between the two protagonists has been largely well received by the community. However, some fans are surprised by Jason's alleged street-brawler fighting style. Since his backstory says he served in the military, they would have expected a more technical approach. Overall, however, fans on Reddit welcome the different combat styles as a useful mechanic that could give switching between Lucia and Jason in GTA 6 (available for pre-order on Amazon) more gameplay significance.
