This Chinese tablet can be imported with virtually no risk—here’s what you should keep in mind

A major obstacle to importing technology from China is often the fear of customs duties or taxes. And rightly so—a significant amount of money can be lost here. 

For some time now, however, there has also been the option for the seller to assume the risk of these payments—and that is the case, for example, with the Oppo Pad 6, which we recently tested.

Available only as a China import

Currently, this high-quality tablet is only available as a China import. Our loan provider, TradingShenzhen—which offers the Oppo Pad 6 starting at US$ 685—enables this nearly risk-free import for a relatively low shipping fee.

But is it even worth it? Let’s take a closer look at what we discovered about the Oppo Pad 6 in our review:

The 12.1-inch tablet is available with a matte screen finish, which is a blessing for people who use it frequently outdoors or in bright environments. 

The Pad 6 also comes with a really large battery: hardly any other device in this price range offers 10,420 mAh. The Oppo Pad 6 thus achieves run times of over 19 hours in our Wi-Fi test, which is easily enough for a workday or a long movie session on the couch. 

Charging is also very fast, thanks to a maximum charging power of 67 watts: the battery is back to 100% in well under 2 hours.

Processor enables snappy performance

Thanks to the speedy MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, the tablet can finally hold its own against other high-end tablets. With the previous model, we had complained about insufficient performance, but Oppo has addressed this issue.

However, there are also some clear weaknesses with the Oppo Pad 6 that you should be aware of: In our tests, the Wi-Fi was very slow, and there’s no fingerprint sensor. 

There’s also no 5G version and no satellite positioning. A clear promise of software updates is missing, as is IP certification.
