Forza Horizon 6 PS5 launch: Insider reiterates delay despite Playground Games’ reassurance

About a couple of weeks ago (August 28), it was reported that Forza Horizon 6 will not hit the PS5 this year as originally announced. The information came from a credible industry insider, but since then, the studio behind Forza Horizon 6 has reiterated the 2026 launch window. Now, the insider has also reiterated his claim about a delay.
When The Verge’s Tom Warren first shared news of the delay, he did not cite a reason. But he did say that the game will eventually land on the PS5. Then, just yesterday (September 7), Playground Games shared the details for the British Automotive update for Forza Horizon 6. In it, the studio mentioned that the game is still scheduled for a 2026 launch on the PS5. The update reads:
If you’re planning your trip to Discover Japan on PlayStation 5, stay tuned! Forza Horizon 6 will be releasing on PS5 later this year, and you can add the game to your Wishlist on the PlayStation Store to be notified of availability.
In Warren’s latest post about Microsoft’s patch Tuesday frequency, he once again cites sources familiar with Playground Games’ plans and states that it will be pushed into early 2027. He goes on to say that Microsoft wants to line up the PS5 release with the game’s first expansion, but it will release on the Sony console before its one-year anniversary on May 15. Notably, neither Microsoft nor Playground Games has shared any information about an upcoming expansion just yet.
