PS5 emulation hits new milestone: SharpEmu now runs six games at 60 FPS

SharpEmu, an experimental open-source PS5 emulator, has reported a notable step forward: of 55 games tested, 12 are now capable of actual gameplay, and six of those are classed as playable at 60 frames per second. The confirmed titles include Dreaming Sarah, Tetris Forever, Terrarium, New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja, Hoa, and Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.
The team behind SharpEmu defines "playable" conservatively: None of the six games have been completed start to finish, and even those hitting 60 FPS may still show minor graphical or audio glitches. In other words, the 60-FPS designation should not be confused with flawless emulation. Also, given that the PS5 library exceeds 9,000 titles, six functioning games remains a negligible portion, while more demanding 3D titles such as Demon's Souls, Astro Bot and Grand Theft Auto V remain far from playable, still stuck at much earlier stages of compatibility.
SharpEmu’s latest public release, version 0.0.4-release.2, arrived on September 25 with Vulkan improvements, additional SPIR-V shader translator instructions, CPU fixes and further Vulkan extension support. These are incremental gains rather than a leap in overall compatibility, underscoring how early-stage PS5 emulation still is despite the milestone.
