With the A7 Pro, Oppo is introducing a water-resistant mid-range smartphone priced at the equivalent of around $329, which packs a massive 8,000 mAh battery, a 120 Hz OLED display, and a 50-megapixel main camera into a relatively lightweight body.

With the Oppo A7 Pro, the manufacturer is introducing a smaller alternative to the Oppo A7 Pro Max. The smaller model features a 6.57-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,372 x 1,080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a peak brightness of 1,400 nits across the entire screen.

Although the smartphone isn’t particularly slim at 8.8 millimeters, it’s relatively lightweight at 205 grams, especially considering its massive 8,000 mAh battery. The battery charges via USB-C at up to 45 watts. The Oppo A7 Pro is IP69K-certified and therefore waterproof. The fingerprint sensor is invisibly integrated into the display. Oppo has equipped the phone with an 8-megapixel f/2.1 front-facing camera and a 50 MP f/1.9 main camera. However, the second lens in the pill-shaped camera module is purely decorative.

A MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Max provides the necessary performance, paired with 6 GB to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage. This mid-range smartphone supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4, including Sony LDAC and Qualcomm aptX HD. An NFC chip for contactless payments, a GPS module, and a dual-SIM slot round out the features.

Pricing and availability

In China, the Oppo A7 Pro is available either with 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for ¥2,199 ($329) or with 8 GB of RAM for ¥2,499 yuan ($372). No information is currently available regarding a launch in the rest of the world. At least the older Oppo A6 Pro ($605 on Amazon) is also available internationally.
