Apple iPhone Air faces new competitor with 90% larger battery and dual camera

Following the Tecno Camon Slim and Slim 2, Tecno is introducing the Camon Slim 5G. With a thickness of 6.39 millimeters, the latest model is also about 0.8 millimeters thicker than the Apple iPhone Air ($809 on Amazon). While the Tecno Camon Slim 5G won’t win any awards for being the thinnest smartphone on the market, it does offer a battery with a capacity of 6,000 mAh – nearly twice the capacity of the iPhone Air’s 3,149 mAh battery.
Charging is handled via USB-C at up to 45 watts. This mid-range smartphone features an understated design with a flat bezel, pill-shaped camera module, and punch-hole display, and is available in six different colors. The case is IP69K-certified and therefore waterproof. Tecno has equipped the device with a 50-megapixel f/1.8 main camera featuring a 1/1.56-inch Sony LYT-700C sensor, as well as an 8 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera. The third lens on the back is purely decorative.
The selfie camera is based on a 32 MP sensor. The 6.78-inch display features an AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2,644 x 1,208 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Tecno does not provide specific details regarding brightness, other than stating that the screen is supposed to be "ultra-bright." The Tecno Camon Slim 5G features a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e 5G processor.
The ARM chip features four Cortex-A78 performance cores and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. It also comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB to 256 GB of flash storage. Tecno isn’t being entirely honest in its marketing, as the device is advertised as having 24 GB of RAM, even though 16 GB of that is only virtual, meaning it’s offloaded to the flash storage. Details on the price and availability of the Camon Slim 5G are still pending.
