Forza Horizon 6 PS5 launch seems unlikely for 2026

Microsoft and Playground Games announced Forza Horizon 6 in September last year, and soon after, it was revealed that the game would come to the PS5 as well. While it was scheduled to release on Xbox and PC on May 19 this year (which it did), the PS5 version was said to arrive later in the year, but it now looks like that won’t happen.
The Verge’s Tom Warren believes Forza Horizon 6 will not launch on the PS5 this year. While he is confident that it will eventually release on the Sony console, it just won’t happen this year as originally announced. The PS Store still has the game listed for players to wishlist, but there’s no update on the release date.
The Forza Horizon 6 PS5 release announcement came at a time when the console exclusivity conversation was not as strong as it is now. Both Sony and Microsoft have since decided that keeping games exclusive to their own platforms is the way to go. Because of that, Ghost of Yotei, Saros, the upcoming Wolverine game, and most future AAA PlayStation titles will not launch on PC or Xbox. Similarly, Gears of War: E-Day is going to be an Xbox (and PC) exclusive.
Can Microsoft decide at some point in the future that Forza Horizon 6 should not release on the PS5? Of course. But as of now, at least its 2026 release looks highly unlikely.
