GOG is currently giving away a well-rated narrative-focused game, State of Mind. This game typically retails for $19.99 when not on sale, but it will be available as a freebie for a very limited time.

To be specific, this free game deal will last until September 10, 2026. For those who want to show support to the developers, GOG has discounted the game's two DLCs by 50%, which can be purchased from the storefront.

Released in 2018, State of Mind positioned itself as a narrative-driven, third-person adventure game that leans heavily toward exploration rather than combat. Since the launch, it has received over 1,500 reviews on Steam, of which 76% are positive, making the title currently hold a "Mostly Positive" rating.

The plot follows Richard Nolan, who wakes up in a hospital after an explosion in a near-future Berlin that's filled with drones. As players look for Richard's missing wife and son, the game introduces another protagonist, Adam Newman, and that's where the storyline starts to get interesting and thought-provoking.

There's no combat, but the game has logic and inventory-style puzzles. In addition, there are assorted mini-games, and thanks to the difficulty being generally light, it should be an easy play for most. However, the lack of real challenge has also made the game receive a fair share of criticism.

Some players also note that the gameplay can feel repetitive at times, but the exploration aspect of the game, which can vary across different locations, makes up for it to some degree.
