Fallout 4: First person perspective gets even better thanks to free mod

Fallout 4 players finally have a fix for one of the game's oldest cosmetic quirks. A new PC-only mod called "True First Person," created by Nexus Mods user killemloud, replaces the floating-arms view that has defined the game's first-person mode since its 2015 launch. Players can now see their legs, clothing and equipment when looking down, and the perspective also remains in first person during activities such as using workstations and entering power armor.
Installation is straightforward: players add the plugin through a mod manager or extract it directly to the game's F4SE plugins folder, then launch via F4SE rather than the standard game executable. Removing it is just as simple, with no impact on save files. However, the mod is explicitly PC-only, since the underlying F4SE framework it depends on has no equivalent on consoles. The mod page plainly states that it won't be made available on Bethesda.net for console users, meaning Xbox and PlayStation players, along with the unmoddable Nintendo Switch 2 release, are locked out entirely.
Responses from the FalloutMods community have generally been enthusiastic, although discussion also highlights its unfinished state and compatibility concerns. Users have reported issues involving third-person transitions and other mods, while the author has already issued updates addressing several bugs. Nevertheless, players describe the result as working well and highly immersive, making the mod a notable attempt to provide the full-body first-person experience that the original Fallout 4 largely lacked.
