Treyarch shut down a recent rumor of an early Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 release date. Even so, there is still a chance of a surprise, according to a PlayStation Game Size leak. The social media presence found indications on PSN for file sizes and launch times. While this may be an error, the PS4 version of Black Ops 7 lists a November 10th debut for campaign and zombie modes.
The post by PlayStation Game Size reveals preloads beginning on November 9th at 10:00 AM PST. Single-player and zombie modes would appear on November 10th at the same hour. However, the multiplayer component wouldn’t become available until November 17th. Presumably, the PS5 version will follow the same schedule, but fans are awaiting details for that console.
PS4 owners also have an idea of installation sizes, with the multiplayer pack at 11.6 GB, and campaign files at 11.9 GB. Even factoring in zombie mode, the total download is noticeably smaller than Black Ops 6. That’s one of several reasons why there is skepticism about this Black Ops 7 leak.
Early access for past Call of Duty games
Aside from the open beta, Activision has not hinted at any early access period for its new military shooter. Most Call of Duty games have lacked the option, although Modern Warfare 3 offered access to its single-player mode with pre-orders. Many titles have allowed players to uninstall modes to reduce installation sizes.
Most gamers believe that the PSN-supplied information is a mistake. If that’s the case, console and PC users will have to wait until the advertised November 14th Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 release date. Regardless, the developers have done the unexpected in recent weeks and months.
On October 7th, the Black Ops 7 open beta was suddenly extended by 24 hours. Speculation immediately began that Activision was trying to steal the thunder from the Battlefield 6 arrival. It’s also launched several free Black Ops 6 trials, while its EA rival enjoys impressive sales and Steam player counts.
