Activision announced the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 7, at Xbox Showcase in June. At the time, no release date was given but it was expected that the game will arrive in November, as per leaks. Now, a new leak somewhat confirms the exact the release date while another leak mentions something quite interesting for the singleplayer campaign.
Starting with the release date, a report from Dealabs (machine translated) states that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will launch on November 14. This is the same date mentioned previously by prolific leaker TheGhostofHope on X, though the leaker himself titled this date as a rumor. At launch, the game will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series consoles, Xbox One consoles, and PC. There is no Switch 2 version of the game as far as the launch is concerned.
Coming to the singleplayer campaign, Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming claims that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will do something that has never happened before in any Call of Duty game. The campaign’s final mission that is said to take place in the ‘Avalon’ map will merge into a 32-player multiplayer experience. The report cites anonymous sources and adds that a full-fledged map will be presented to players as the final mission but some POIs (points of interest) will be available during the rest of the campaign.
It is unclear exactly how developers Treyarch and Raven Software are planning on pulling this off but the report states the final mission could be an extraction shooter where players compete with other players. This is said to be part of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s full progression system where all three game modes – campaign, multiplayer, and zombies – contribute to the progression.
More information about the game will be revealed at Gamescom 2025 slated for August 20.
