The next instalment in the Call of Duty: Black Ops franchise, Black Ops 7, was unveiled at the Xbox Showcase early this month. The three-minute teaser showed cinematic footage of what the world of Black Ops 7 will be like, but no actual details about the game were shared. Now, some new details have surfaced in the form of official looking screenshots that show new game modes and new equipment.
As per the post on XCancel by CharlieIntel, the Xbox Call of Duty app accidentally showed some screenshots of Black Ops 7. These screenshots seem to be from a closed internal playtest (CIP) where select players are supposed to share their feedback. Some of the screenshots show a new Overload game mode and a Skirmish with 20v20 players.
The Overload game mode is described as two teams of six players each that have to deliver EMP devices to the enemy HQ to get a higher score. The Skirmish mode is pretty typical but there will be two teams of 20 players each and there will also be wingsuits, likely similar to Battlefield 2042, that players can use to traverse the large maps quicker.
Interestingly, one of the screenshots shows a character wearing what looks to be a jetpack. Fans believe that it is most likely a boost pack and not a full jetpack since Activision confirmed that Black Ops 7 will not have jetpacks. Instead, the game will have a more evolved version of omnimovement, a mechanic that was introduced with Black Ops 6 and then brought to Warzone.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 does not have a release date yet but it will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will also be available via Xbox game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on launch day.
