Update | Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is free to play for a limited time
According to Microsoft, the latest installment of the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 6, is the "biggest Call of Duty release ever" and has set a record for new Game Pass subscribers on its launch date of October 25, 2024. In an infographic on the social media platform X, the official Call of Duty account has now announced a seven-day free trial period for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
"From December 13th to the 20th, you'll have one week of free access to multiplayer and zombies, including new maps like Hideout and Hacienda and modes like Prop Hunt introduced in Season 01",
reads a post on X, where an infographic details the free content.
Unlike the full version, this free version of Black Ops 6 comes with a limited set of features. The following multiplayer maps will be available for testing during the week of December 13-20: Racket, Hacienda, Nuketown Holiday, Extraction, Hideout, Heirloom. On these maps, players of the "Free Week" version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be able to choose between the game modes Team Deathmatch, Hardpoint, Domination, Kill Confirmed, Kill Order and the fun mode Prop Hunt.
Those who prefer to play PvE instead of the sometimes taxing PvP multiplayer mode can also try out Black Ops 6's Zombie mode for a week. The Terminus and Liberty Falls maps will be available to try for free, but the new Citadelle des Morts map will be reserved for owners of the full version and Xbox/PC Game Pass subscribers.
The free trial week from December 13th to 20th will be available for both consoles (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One) and PC players, with Playstation Plus or Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) required to play online on the consoles. Details on how the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Free Week will work on PC are not yet available (in any case, you can get Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for PlayStation 5 on Amazon now).
Update 14 December 2024: Free trial week has begun, including double XP weekend
The Free Trial Week for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has begun, in conjunction with a Double XP event running until 16 December. More information about the Free Trial from 13th to 20th December 2024 can be found on a dedicated page on the Call of Duty website.
