New Philips Hue app update arrives with unannounced feature
The Philips Hue app for iOS has been updated to version 5.30.0. This is the first release this month, and it follows version 5.29.0 which launched in October. This brought new features for Hue security cameras as well as the ability to trigger a timer or Mimic presence automation from the iOS widget.
The change log for version 5.3.0 simply states that it brings bug fixes to the Philips Hue app and improves stability. The company does not provide further information highlighting what has been amended. It has also been reported by Hueblog that there is new widget functionality for security cameras, like the Hue Secure Battery camera (curr. $139.99 at Amazon). The new tool allows you to quickly access the live video stream from your camera rather than searching for the view within the app. It is unclear why this is not mentioned in the release notes.
This update does not appear to bring any of the brand’s hotly anticipated features like 24-hour scenes, support for multi-bridge support and enhanced integration for Hue Secure devices with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. You can now download the Philips Hue app version 5.30.0 for iOS from the Apple App Store. It is unclear a similar update for Android devices will arrive.
