IKEA has released a new version of its app, IKEA Home smart. Version 1.41.0 for iOS and version 1.35.0 for Android recently started to roll out to users. It is worth noting that this app is for devices connected to a DIRIGERA hub, not a TRADFRI gateway.
The change log for the latest version of the iOS app states that it brings a new feature for some smart lights. IKEA now offers a dynamic lighting mode that automatically adjusts the brightness and color of your smart light based on the time of day. As noted above, this feature is available for DIRIGERA-linked products such as the Symfonisk speaker lamp. A similar feature, the Natural light scene, is already available for Philips Hue products like the Philips Hue Go Portable light (currently $89.99 at Amazon). Plus, another daylight-mimicking tool is included with the recently released Homematic IP Smart Home Lightstrip.
The release notes for the Android update do not mention this new feature. Instead, they state that IKEA has provided bug fixes and minor improvements in the update. It is unclear whether or when this smart lighting effect will be available to these users. You can download the latest version of the IKEA Home smart app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
