Philips Hue users can now control multiple Bridges at the same time. This multi-Bridge feature means that users can adjust all smart home products simultaneously, removing the need to switch between Bridges. However, there are a couple of issues which still need to be ironed out.

Philips Hue has finally released multi-Bridge support. This functionality was announced by the company earlier this year, with the company confirming a late 2024 rollout at IFA. Now, Hueblog.com has spotted this feature, which arrived with app version 5.31.0. For some unknown reason, it is not included in the change log.

This multiple Bridge control feature is useful for users with a large number of smart home devices split over several Hue Bridges. Previously, if you wanted to turn on two lights, each connected to a different Bridge, you had to switch between units in the app. In other words, you could only control devices linked to one Bridge at a time. Now, you can control all products simultaneously and even set all the lights in your home to be triggered by a device like the Philips Hue Secure Smart Contact Sensor (currently $39.99 at Amazon).

You can find this new ability by going to Settings > Living areas, following the message which starts “Do several Homes actually form a single Home?”. Users are then guided through the migration process, setting up one account for all Bridges. It is worth noting that if you have Secure cameras across multiple Bridges, these must be removed to complete this process and added back once you have finished the set-up.

There are still some limitations to the feature. For example, the Amazon Alexa integration does not reflect the new multi-Bridge support. Plus, you cannot link a light connected to one Bridge with a switch linked to a separate Bridge. However, Philips Hue is expected to fix these issues in future updates.
