Xiaomi unveils new smart Mijia Mini Washer Dryer

Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Washing Machine Mini Washer and Dryer 1kg in China. It describes the smart home product as delivering “medical-grade” washing, with a range of cleaning features.

As its name suggests, you can use the Mijia Washing Machine Mini Washer and Dryer to wash 1kg (~2.2 lbs) and dry 0.5 kg (~1.1 lbs) of clothes. Xiaomi suggests that this equates to two sets of underwear, one pair of yoga pants or a set of pyjamas. Users can choose from 20 programs, which include a delicate wash, a high temperature steam sterilization and a quick 15 minute wash. The company indicates that the speed of the latter is thanks in part to the premixing of detergent with water, creating a foam spray to coat the clothes. The maximum hot water temperature appears to be 95°C (~203°F), killing 99.99% of germs.

You can remotely control the washing machine via the Xiaomi app, where you can select a program, schedule future washes and trigger OTA updates. The app can also be used to adjust the level of detergent automatically dispensed based on the level of dirtiness of the washing. Alternatively, you can control the smart home product with Xiao AI voice commands or via the integrated touch panel. The compact machine measures 328 x 461 x 452 mm (~12.9 x 18.1 x 17.8 inches). The Xiaomi Mijia Washing Machine Mini Washer and Dryer 1kg launches in China for CNY 1,999 (~$274), a discount on the CNY 2,199 RRP (~$302). It is unlikely that the machine will roll out to markets like the US, where you can buy other smart home products like the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact, priced at $99.99.
