Xiaomi’s new Mijia Smart Safe with fingerprint recognition arrives
Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Smart Safe 30cm in China. The product is labelled smart as it offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity for alarm notifications. Plus, you can view the status of the safe and unlocking history from your smartphone.
The Mijia Smart Safe has a Class C anti-theft lock cylinder and a self-ejecting and automatically locking door. There is a built-in semiconductor fingerprint recognition module that is said to work in under 0.5 seconds and have 99.2% accuracy. You can also unlock the safe in five other ways: a password, a one-time password, two-step verification, Bluetooth and a physical key. The battery-powered safe is said to run for up to 12 months, with the battery recharging via USB-C. The safe is made from steel plate, with two 19mm diameter locking bolts, measuring 396 x 248 x 295 mm (~15.6 x 9.8 x 11.6 inches) internally and 400 x 300 x 300 mm (~15.7 x 11.8 x 11.8 inches) externally.
The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Safe 30cm is now available in China for CNY 699 (~$96). The company has yet to announce plans to bring this gadget to other markets like Europe. Here, it already sells smart home products like the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X20+, currently available for €369.99 at Amazon Germany.
