Home Assistant has launched update 2024.12. This is the latest monthly release for the open-source smart home automation software. The software update brings a range of new features and improvements to the community.
According to the change log, the scene editor experience has been improved with two new modes: review mode and edit mode. In review mode, you can check and amend the settings without activating the scene. Edit mode is like the original, automatically activating the scene so you can see your changes in real-time. There are new integrations for Acaia coffee scales, Music Assistant and Sky Remote. Plus, there is a new download snapshot button, durations are now displayed in a timer format, and there are several additional units of measurement.
On top of this, Home Assistant also teased new voice control features, which will be announced in a YouTube live stream on December 19th. You can find the full change log on the Home Assistant website. There have been three subsequent patch releases, the most recent of which is version 2024.12.3, with a range of bug fixes.
