The Samsung The Premiere 8K projector has been the first to be certified by the 8K Association (8KA). The 8KA, a global organization with members from companies like Google, Hisense, Panasonic, TCL and Samsung, launched the projector certification earlier in December.
To become certified, a projector must demonstrate an 8K (7,680 x 4,320 px) resolution and hit various targets for brightness, contrast and wide color gamut coverage. Also considered are the 8K upscaling technology, the audio system and high dynamic range (HDR).
The Premiere 8K projector, which the company describes as its "flagship premium" model, debuted at CES 2023 and was shown again at CES 2024. The DLP projector has a triple laser light source producing up to 4,500 ISO lumens brightness. Thanks to the ultra-short throw (UST) ratio, you can cast a 150-inch (~381 cm) image when the projector is placed 12 inches (~30 cm) from the screen or wall. Other features include built-in 8.2.2 channel speakers supporting Dolby Atmos and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.
It is unclear when the Samsung Premiere 8K projector will launch and at what cost. The Samsung LSP9T Premiere 130" UST Triple Laser Projector is currently available at Amazon US for $5,497.99.
