The new IKEA adaptive lighting feature for smart lights is rolling out to more users. The tool initially arrived for iOS users; now, an update for the IKEA Home Smart app brings the feature to customers with Android devices. Based on the description in the release notes, this tool is similar to one found on Philips Hue smart lights.

IKEA is rolling out its new adaptive lighting feature for smart lights to more users. The tool launched earlier this month for iOS users in IKEA Home Smart app version 1.41.0.

Now, Android users can also access this dynamic lighting effect thanks to IKEA Home Smart app version 1.36.1. The feature appears to be identical to the earlier tool for Apple devices. According to the release notes, the adaptive lighting feature means that the color and brightness of your IKEA smart lights will change automatically throughout the day. Presumably, this is a cooler, brighter light in the mornings and a warmer, dimmer light in the evenings.

A similar, popular feature can be found on products from other smart lighting brands like Philips Hue, such as the Philips Hue Go Portable light, currently $89.98 at Amazon. It is worth noting that this tool will only work with smart lights connected to a Dirigera hub; the feature is not available on the IKEA Home Smart 1 app for the Tradfri gateway and linked smart products. You can now download the IKEA Home Smart App version 1.36.1 for Android from the Google Play Store.
