Level Home unveils smallest home smart lock: Level Lock Plus Matter
Level Home has unveiled the latest version of its Level Lock Plus smart home lock - the Level Lock+ (Matter). The lock integrates with smart homes that use a compatible Matter-over-Thread hub controller. Matter is a recent IoT standard for connecting devices commonly found in smart homes and a competitor to the long-established Z-Wave standard as well as the newer Apple Home, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa standards.
The Level Lock has all the normally expected features of a smart lock, from phone unlocking to temporary access passes to logging of entries. Unlocking and controlling the smart lock wirelessly requires an Android device with OS version 8.0 or later, an Apple iPhone XS or later with iOS 17 or later, or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later with watchOS 9.1 or later. A Matter-over-Thread-enabled hub controller on the latest firmware is also required.
Two physical keys and two touch-to-unlock key fobs are included as backup methods for unlocking the Level Lock. An optional keypad can be purchased and integrated with the lock to allow guests entry based on PIN codes that can be generated and destroyed at any time. The Level Lock+ (Matter) measures 2.8 x 2.8 x 4.5 in. (6.9 x 6.9 x 11.4 cm) and weighs 24 oz. (680 g).
The lock is available for purchase directly from Level Home at a MSRP of $299 and will be available soon on the Level Home's Amazon store.
Keep in mind that thieves are actively using Wi-Fi jammers to kill home security cameras, so users should also consider upgrading their wireless home security camera system to a wired one (like this one on Amazon). Although there are no known wireless hacks of the lock, its physical keyhole can be accessed by lockpickers.
